Organizational Context

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, administered by UNDP, supports human development globally by promoting volunteerism and mobilizing volunteers. It recognizes volunteerism's significant economic and social contributions to cohesive societies through trust and reciprocity. In Yemen, UNV aims to attract qualified applicants, especially from targeted duty stations, by seeking Online Volunteers to assist with vacancy promotion and guide candidates through the recruitment process.

Job Purpose

The UNV Yemen Field Unit seeks Online Volunteers to enhance the recruitment of Community Volunteers. These volunteers will promote vacancy announcements through various networks to reach potential applicants in specific duty stations. They will provide online guidance to assist candidates in navigating the UNV application system, completing applications, understanding documentation requirements, and progressing through recruitment steps. This support aims to increase applications from targeted locations, overcome barriers, reduce delays, and improve the overall candidate experience, thereby strengthening local activities and community engagement in Yemen.

Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the UNV Yemen Client Engagement Assistant, Online Volunteers will conduct tutorial calls to explain the recruitment process and required steps to selected candidates. They will guide candidates through necessary documentation and administrative procedures, providing step-by-step remote support to help them navigate the system and overcome difficulties. Volunteers will identify and report common questions or challenges to the UNV team to improve guidance materials. They will maintain a simple tracker of guidance sessions and candidate progress, coordinating with the UNV team. Additionally, volunteers will provide brief summaries of common challenges and recommendations for enhancing recruitment guidance accessibility. Each volunteer is expected to support five community volunteers from onboarding until they enter their duties.

Work Experience

Previous or current UN Volunteers familiar with the UNV recruitment process are encouraged to apply. Experience in human resources, recruitment, onboarding, volunteer management, training, or mentoring is beneficial. The ability to explain administrative procedures clearly and practically, along with experience facilitating online meetings or providing remote guidance, is also required.

Skills

Expertise in Information Technology and Telecommunications, Emergency Preparedness and Crisis Response, and Human Resources is desirable. Strong communication skills are needed to explain administrative procedures clearly and provide remote guidance. Familiarity with the UNV recruitment process is advantageous.
