Organizational Context
UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children's lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfill their potential. In the Central African Republic, UNICEF contributes to realizing every child's rights through its programs and operations, including in humanitarian contexts. The organization is committed to developing young talent.
Job Purpose
The UNICEF Central African Republic Country Office seeks to host two interns within the People & Culture section for a two-month program. This internship aims to build a pool of qualified, motivated, and dynamic young professionals capable of contributing positively to their communities and UNICEF's mandate. Interns will gain structured experience combining practical learning, mentorship, professional guidance, and exposure to various People & Culture functions. Activities will be supervised by section managers and professionals. Outstanding interns may be considered for future talent pools or opportunities, though the internship does not guarantee employment with UNICEF. The overall goal is to strengthen operational, analytical, administrative, and communication support for the People & Culture section.
Responsibilities
The internship program is designed to provide hands-on experience in various aspects of Human Resources within UNICEF. Interns will support the People & Culture section in operational tasks, which may include assisting with recruitment processes, onboarding new staff, and maintaining employee records. They will contribute to analytical work by helping to gather and analyze HR data for reporting purposes. Administrative support will involve managing documentation, scheduling meetings, and responding to general HR inquiries. Communication tasks may include drafting internal memos, updating HR-related information on internal platforms, and assisting with the dissemination of HR policies and procedures. Interns will also be exposed to different HR functions, such as talent management, performance management, and staff development. They will work under the direct supervision and guidance of HR professionals, receiving mentorship and feedback to enhance their learning and skill development. The role involves contributing to the smooth functioning of the HR department and supporting its objectives in line with UNICEF's mandate and values.
Work Experience
No prior work experience is required, but an interest in Human Resources and international development is highly desirable. Previous volunteer experience is a plus.
