Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the UN's global development network, operating in 170 countries. This role is within the Strategy, Management, and Operations department in Nepal, contributing to the organization's mission of empowering lives and building resilient nations through innovative solutions and resource connection.
Job Purpose
The Communications and Reporting Analyst will design and implement a comprehensive communications and visibility strategy for a Nepal-based project. This role is crucial for effectively showcasing project results, innovations, and lessons learned to national and international stakeholders. The analyst will develop communication materials, manage outreach, ensure alignment with UNDP and donor branding, document achievements, produce multimedia content, strengthen media and partner networks, and support advocacy and knowledge exchange at various levels, contributing to the project's overall impact and visibility.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a project communication strategy aligned with UNDP standards, ensuring coverage of all components and integration of GESI principles. Produce high-quality communication materials, including press releases, newsletters, infographics, reports, case studies, photo essays, and videos, while overseeing design and adhering to UN branding guidelines. Maintain a digital library of media and knowledge products, track communication outputs, and provide regular updates for project progress reports. Strengthen media engagement by building relationships with national and international outlets and facilitating media coverage. Support knowledge management by documenting achievements and lessons learned, translating technical findings into accessible products, and contributing to South-South exchanges. Coordinate outreach and advocacy activities, including public events and workshops, and ensure alignment of messaging across internal and partner channels.
Work Experience
Applicants with a Master's degree are not required to have professional work experience. Applicants with a Bachelor's degree must have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in communication and reporting. Desired experience includes MS Office, design/multimedia tools, developing communication strategies for development projects, working with UNDP or donor-funded projects, managing social media, government communication processes, knowledge management, and gender/social inclusion advocacy.
