The Business Innovation Unit (BIU)/UN Advisory Alliance (UNAA) serves as WFP's internal management consulting arm, driving change and promoting innovation across the UN system.
Job Purpose
The Business Innovation Consultant will support the Business Innovation Unit (BIU)/UN Advisory Alliance (UNAA) in executing critical projects aimed at enhancing WFP's operational efficiency and effectiveness. This role involves providing analytical and project management support to senior leadership on key organizational initiatives, contributing to UN Reform efforts, and exploring inter-agency collaboration opportunities. The consultant will analyze service delivery, identify best practices, and support pilot launches, while also contributing to knowledge management and sharing. The position requires strong analytical, quantitative, and qualitative skills, with experience in management consulting or innovative finance, and the ability to develop new strategies and innovative projects. The consultant will work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to drive implementation and achieve organizational objectives within tight deadlines.
Responsibilities
The Business Innovation Unit (BIU)/UN Advisory Alliance (UNAA) at the World Food Programme (WFP) functions as the organization's internal management consulting arm. Established to drive change and foster innovation, the unit comprises professionals with backgrounds in top-tier management consulting and UN experience. Their core responsibility is to execute business innovation projects, addressing an unprecedented level of global emergencies and operational demands. This involves developing new approaches and optimizing existing work methods to ensure efficient resource allocation for beneficiaries. The unit provides end-to-end solutions, from problem assessment and data analysis to designing operational models and monitoring implementation. They collaborate with senior leadership across the UN system, including Executive Directors and Assistant Secretary Generals, offering analytical and project management support. Key deliverables include supporting UN Reform initiatives, exploring inter-agency collaborations, identifying best practices for operational efficiency, and contributing to communication efforts. The role requires strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, project management capabilities, and the ability to work collaboratively under tight deadlines to support WFP's mission of saving lives and changing them for the better.
Work Experience
Requires approximately 2 years of progressive national or international experience in a business or international relations role. A minimum of 2 years of experience in management consulting or innovative finance is mandatory. Additional work experience is considered a plus.
