Job Purpose
This assignment seeks Online Volunteers to edit a series of high-quality, data-driven articles for the 2026 publication. The articles will analyze the realities of African SMEs, focusing on critical areas such as agribusiness financing, digital tools, and the informal economy. The volunteers will guide writers in revising drafts based on feedback, ensuring clarity and accuracy. The ultimate goal is to produce valuable knowledge products that empower entrepreneurs with insights into policy, market dynamics, and risk reduction strategies, thereby contributing to the growth and sustainability of African SMEs.
Responsibilities
Recruit and onboard five Online Volunteers to edit the 2026 publication series of analytical articles on African SMEs. Guide writers through the revision process, providing constructive feedback to enhance draft quality. Ensure articles are data-driven, analyze SME realities, and align with AAE's strategic focus for 2026. Encourage topic proposals addressing critical gaps like agribusiness financing, digital tools for SMEs, and the informal economy. Verify adherence to the MLA referencing style and discourage excessive AI usage to maintain authentic authorial voice. Ensure final publications are clear, accurate, and insightful.
Work Experience
Proven ability to write clearly and concisely in plain English is required. Experience in Business, Economics, Data Science, or Journalism is desirable. Strong research skills, with an emphasis on prioritizing localized data, are necessary. Familiarity with the MLA referencing style is also required.
