Organizational Context

UN Women is the UN organization dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. It supports member states in establishing international norms for gender equality and collaborates with governments and civil society to implement laws, policies, and programs. In Ecuador, structural gender gaps persist, limiting women's full participation in the labor market and decision-making spaces. UN Women partners with the private sector to promote the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) to strengthen gender equality in businesses.

Job Purpose

This role supports UN Women's initiative to promote gender equality and women's empowerment within the private sector in Ecuador by driving the implementation of the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs). The assignment focuses on a selected company that has demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The expert will lead the development of an institutional diagnosis and a baseline study to measure the implementation level of the WEPs. This will involve identifying institutional gaps and opportunities for improvement, generating technical evidence, and providing strategic recommendations to enhance the company's management in gender equality and family co-responsibility.

Responsibilities

Under the technical supervision of the UN Women Specialist, the volunteer will: 1. **Methodological Design and Document Review:** Review policies, protocols, internal regulations, and procedures related to diversity, equity, inclusion, prevention of gender-based violence, workplace harassment, and discrimination. Design the institutional diagnosis methodology aligned with WEPs and develop the work plan and data collection instruments. 2. **Institutional Data Collection:** Validate and administer a national institutional survey. Coordinate and conduct focus groups segmented by hierarchical level and territorial location. Systematize quantitative and qualitative information. 3. **Analysis and Baseline Development:** Process and analyze collected data to identify strengths, gaps, and areas for improvement. Develop an institutional baseline on WEPs implementation. Formulate strategic recommendations and an implementation roadmap. 4. **Validation and Socialization:** Present preliminary findings, incorporate technical observations, and conduct final socialization and validation with Human Resources, the DEI team, and the Diversity Committee. Deliverables include a methodological document, a preliminary diagnosis report, and a final report with recommendations and a roadmap.

Work Experience

A minimum of seven years of relevant experience is required. This includes five years of experience in institutional diagnostics, quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, gender equality, and the private sector. Experience in implementing WEPs and DEI principles within the private sector, as well as prior experience in organizational transformation processes, is desirable. Strong writing skills in Spanish and English are highly valued.

Core values include integrity, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity. Key competencies encompass gender awareness and sensitivity, accountability, and effective communication. Functional competencies include strong teamwork, excellent communication abilities, commitment to the subject matter, ability to produce quality knowledge products, respect for diversity, and a gender perspective.
