Philosophical, Theological, Ethical & Cultural Anthropology Support-MoralityCode
Organizational Context
Action Lab for Development, a Canadian non-profit registered in Alberta, focuses on education, food security, and advocacy to empower entrepreneurs and newcomers. Holding UN Economic and Social Council consultative status, it aligns with Sustainable Development Goals. The organization aims to foster creative economies and provide resources for local innovators and immigrants. Its current project involves enhancing the MoralityCode Mobile App, an ethical decision-making tool.
Job Purpose
This role supports the enhancement of the MoralityCode Mobile App (Version 2), an innovative ethical decision-making tool designed to address emotional and moral gaps in AI systems. The app integrates technology, spirituality, and moral philosophy. The volunteer will contribute to refining AI reasoning, integrating diverse cultural and philosophical frameworks, and expanding the app's ethical models. The goal is to make MoralityCode more intuitive, inclusive, and transformative by enriching its content with philosophical, theological, ethical, and cultural-anthropological insights, ensuring it reflects global realities and provides inclusive moral guidance.
Responsibilities
The volunteer will develop new content for the MoralityCode app's moral reasoning database by creating 20 structured moral dilemmas or ethical scenarios. Each scenario, approximately 400 words, will be a narrative case study for AI moral reasoning training. Content must reflect diverse global cultural contexts, incorporating real-world social, philosophical, or community-based situations. It should integrate ethical reasoning from philosophical, theological, and anthropological perspectives, ensuring balance and inclusivity. Scenarios must follow a structured storytelling and tagging framework (Tradition, Ethical Framework, Theme, Tension Type, Context) and be suitable for AI training by presenting clear moral tension and multiple interpretations. Cultural sensitivity, moral neutrality, and respect for diverse worldviews are essential. Collaboration with the AI development team is required to align with ethical logic structures and AI training principles.
Work Experience
Experience in moral philosophy, applied ethics, intercultural studies, or anthropology is highly valued. Proven experience in ethical analysis, content development, cultural interpretation, intercultural communication, and teamwork is required. Research or academic writing experience is a plus. Familiarity with AI ethics or digital content is desirable.
Skills
Strong critical thinking, clear communication, and cultural sensitivity are essential. Ability to simplify complex ideas and work effectively in remote team environments is necessary. Experience with digital platforms, knowledge of diverse cultural moral traditions, and collaboration tools are advantageous. Native-level English proficiency is desirable.
