Job Purpose

The P3 Advocacy and Communication Specialist is responsible for coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating advocacy and communication strategies to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people. This role is central to UNICEF's mandate, advocating to decision-makers for the protection of children's rights, ensuring their basic needs are met, and expanding opportunities for them to reach their full potential. The specialist will also communicate with key public and private audiences to build support for the cause of children, leveraging digital communications and media relations to amplify UNICEF's message and impact.

Responsibilities

The Advocacy and Communication Specialist will develop and implement comprehensive advocacy and communication strategies aligned with UNICEF's mandate and country-specific goals. Key responsibilities include leading advocacy efforts to influence policy and practice for child rights, developing and executing communication plans to raise awareness and mobilize support, and managing digital communication channels, including social media and content development. The role involves cultivating and maintaining strong media relations to secure positive coverage and manage reputational risks. Furthermore, the specialist will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of advocacy and communication initiatives, ensuring alignment with project objectives and budget management. Capacity building for national staff and partners in advocacy and communication will also be a crucial function, alongside active stakeholder engagement to foster collaboration and partnerships. The specialist will manage projects, track budgets, and report on progress, ensuring efficient resource utilization and impactful outcomes for children.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in advocacy, campaigning, or communications is required. Experience in project and budget management is also necessary.
