Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Bolivia supports national and subnational capacity building, promoting Sustainable Development Goals, human rights, and gender equality. Through technical assistance, UNDP fosters sustainable human development and inclusive growth. This role operates within the Strategy, Management, and Operations department, supporting the office's general services under the direct supervision of the General Services Assistant.
Job Purpose
The Messenger role is crucial for the efficient functioning of the UNDP office in La Paz. The incumbent will provide essential general support, ensuring the smooth handling of correspondence, documentation, and logistical tasks. This includes managing internal and external mail, scanning documents, and distributing them promptly. The position also supports office operations by assisting with meeting preparations, basic office maintenance, and inventory counts. Effective communication and collaboration with team members and external parties are vital. The role contributes to the overall operational effectiveness and support services provided by the UNDP office, ensuring that administrative and logistical needs are met efficiently and professionally.
Responsibilities
Provide general office support, including maintaining correspondence logs, handling incoming and outgoing mail, and managing confidential information. Support telephone operations by channeling calls and messages according to established procedures. Offer logistical and operational assistance for meetings, workshops, and institutional activities, including room setup and basic cleaning. Assist with office organization, furniture movement, minor infrastructure tasks, and physical asset counts for inventory registration. Handle internal and external messenger services within La Paz, ensuring timely delivery of documents. Scan documents as per agreed limits. Maintain effective communication with team members and external stakeholders, participating in team meetings and providing task updates. Collaborate on basic emergency prevention, response, and facility maintenance. Perform other duties as required for efficient office operation.
Work Experience
No specific experience is required for this role. However, experience in general administrative support, as a telephone operator, or in customer service is considered desirable.
Skills
Proficiency in computer use and office software (Microsoft 365, email, file management). Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to manage records and correspondence. Document and records management capabilities. Customer service orientation. Knowledge of UN ethics policies is desirable.
