Private Sector Finance Specialist
Organizational Context
IFAD is an international financial institution and a UN specialized agency dedicated to eradicating rural poverty and hunger by investing in rural people to increase agricultural productivity, raise rural incomes, and strengthen resilience. The Financial Operations Department (FOD) supports IFAD's financial strategy and management of resources. The Front Office of FOD, including the Development Finance team, aligns IFAD's operational and financial planning, ensures coherence of its financial profile, and bridges development, financial, and strategic dimensions of operations. FOD aims to strengthen IFAD's Private Sector Strategy by identifying and designing innovative financing mechanisms for both non-sovereign and sovereign sectors.
Job Purpose
To provide financial, analytical, coordination, and strategic support to the Associate Vice President (AVP) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and the FOD Front Office in advancing IFAD's Non-Sovereign Operations (NSO) priorities, aligning with the Department's strategic and policy direction.
Responsibilities
Provide direct support to AVP & CFO in preparing written outputs on NSO activities; offer analytical and coordination support across FOD divisions on financial and operational matters related to NSO; support review and coordination of NSO transactions throughout the project cycle; lead coordination between FOD Front Office and Private Sector Division, Risk Management Office, General Counsel's Office, Office of Development Effectiveness, and other relevant functions for NSO development and implementation; support process improvements in FOD for NSO-related processes; identify system gaps affecting NSO processes and work with ICT for solutions; coordinate with Treasury Services Division on NSO transaction pricing; review and comment on Private Sector Advisory Committee documentation; participate in Operational Strategy and Policy Guidance Committee NSO meetings; perform other duties to support FOD's NSO activities and private sector financing agenda.
Work Experience
At least five years of progressively responsible professional experience in private sector finance, treasury, investment analysis, financial or policy advisory services, transaction support, or project management. Experience in an international financial institution, multilateral development bank, development finance institution, investment bank, or comparable financial-sector organization is desirable. Demonstrated experience in private sector or non-sovereign transactions, including financial analysis, transaction structuring, blended finance, funding structures, and pricing. Experience coordinating multidisciplinary stakeholders and supporting transaction/project processes from concept to implementation. Experience reviewing, testing, and implementing new processes, digital tools, or workflow automation.
