Organizational Context

The World Health Organization's Health Emergencies Programme (WHE) in the Eastern Mediterranean Region is strengthening its information and knowledge management systems. This role supports the development of standardized health information products, knowledge management within Incident Management Support Teams (IMSTs), and capacity-building initiatives to enhance emergency preparedness and response.

Job Purpose

This consultancy aims to enhance the Health Emergencies Programme's capacity for effective information and knowledge management. The role will provide technical support in developing, standardizing, and assuring the quality of information products like situation reports and technical briefs. It will also facilitate the capture and sharing of operational knowledge and lessons learned, contribute to strengthening knowledge repositories, and support the development of learning materials. The ultimate goal is to improve the accessibility of reliable information, foster organizational learning, and support evidence-informed decision-making during public health emergencies.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support for the standardization, development, updating, and quality assurance of information management products and tools, including situation reports, bulletins, technical briefs, templates, and SOPs. Review and organize existing knowledge resources and document repositories, supporting content cataloging, tagging, and maintenance of a centralized knowledge repository. Facilitate the identification, documentation, and dissemination of lessons learned, good practices, and operational experiences through various learning products. Support the assessment and documentation of learning needs and the development and quality assurance of training materials. Coordinate with technical teams, IMSTs, and partners to strengthen knowledge exchange and organizational learning.

Work Experience

Up to 5 years of relevant professional experience in information management, knowledge management, public health, emergency preparedness and response, or organizational learning. Demonstrated experience in developing and managing information and knowledge products such as reports, technical briefs, SOPs, and templates is required.

Skills

Excellent technical writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Strong ability to synthesize complex information into clear, user-friendly products. Strong information and knowledge management skills. Expert level English (reading, writing, speaking). Intermediate Arabic is highly desirable.
