Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to support the WHO Country Office in the Central African Republic by enhancing its communication and health promotion functions. The incumbent will be responsible for producing and disseminating high-quality public information on health issues across various platforms, including print, web, broadcast, and social media. This position aims to bolster the WHO's reputation and visibility by strategically monitoring and responding to public opinion and concerns, thereby contributing to improved health outcomes and increased access to services for the population.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include developing and implementing communication strategies to support WHO's health campaigns and initiatives. This involves creating engaging content and storytelling for diverse audiences, particularly youth, utilizing creative formats. The role requires managing the WHO's online presence, including website and social media channels, through editorial planning and interactive campaigns. Additionally, the position entails coordinating events, managing press relations, and conducting digital monitoring and analytical reporting to assess communication effectiveness. The incumbent will also be responsible for basic photography and video editing, and potentially simple video production, to support communication efforts.

Work Experience

Essential: A minimum of 5 years of experience in communication, journalism, or public relations. Desirable: Experience working with a national or international organization, or within the public health sector.

Skills

Strong written communication skills in French (and English or local language). Proficiency in social media management and graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe). Basic social media analytics and reporting capabilities. Photography and video editing skills are a plus. Proactive, creative, results-oriented, with strong teamwork and initiative.
