Organizational Context

The World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in Türkiye supports Member States in achieving global and regional health goals, operationalizing the General Programme of Work and the European Programme of Work. It translates commitments into national action by providing strategic advice, facilitating dialogue, connecting national authorities with WHO expertise, and promoting evidence-based practices.

Job Purpose

This role provides crucial administrative and programmatic support within the WHO Country Office in Türkiye. The incumbent will contribute to the effective implementation of WHO's work by managing correspondence, supporting project activities, assisting with financial monitoring, and facilitating operational processes. The position ensures the smooth functioning of office operations and supports the achievement of national health objectives in line with WHO's global and regional strategies. The role is vital for translating policy into action and ensuring efficient resource utilization.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include drafting and finalizing correspondence, managing incoming and outgoing documents, and taking meeting notes. The role involves monitoring project activities, budgets, and expenditures using ERP systems, and preparing background documentation for planning and evaluation. Administrative arrangements for country activities, including procurement of goods and services, consultant recruitment, and duty travel, are key. The position supports the organization of meetings, workshops, and symposia, providing logistical and secretarial assistance. Maintaining filing systems, managing information databases, and responding to inquiries are also essential. For Programme Associates, this includes HR administrative support and financial reporting. For Procurement Associates, responsibilities extend to procurement planning, processing documentation, tracking actions, contract management, and logistics support.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required for the G5 level, and at least 8 years for the G6 level. Experience within WHO, the UN, or another international organization is desirable. This experience should encompass administrative support, project assistance, and potentially procurement or financial monitoring.

Skills

Proficiency in standard office computer software, note-taking, and operation of computerized systems and databases. Basic understanding of accounting principles. For the procurement role: Good knowledge of procurement and contracting processes. WHO Competencies: Teamwork, Respecting and promoting individual and cultural differences, Communication, Producing results, Knowing and managing yourself. Language Skills: Expert knowledge of English and Turkish.
