Job Purpose

The Programme Policy Officer (Activity Manager 1) will be responsible for designing, coordinating, and implementing WFP's emergency preparedness and response activities in the Republic of Congo. This includes ensuring the country office is ready for climate shocks and sudden population displacements, advancing shock-responsive social protection, and strengthening national and local capacities. The role involves managing Activity 1 to ensure timely and appropriate food and nutrition assistance to food-insecure populations affected by crises, while reinforcing national systems for shock preparedness, response, and social protection, aligning with WFP policies and the Country Strategic Plan.

The officer will design, coordinate, and implement WFP's emergency preparedness and response activities, ensuring the country office is ready for climate-related shocks and sudden population displacements, while also advancing shock-responsive social protection and strengthening national and local capacities. Key responsibilities include maintaining the Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPRP), country emergency profiles, contingency plans, and Concepts of Operations (CONOPS). The role involves analyzing food security and early warning information to inform timely updates and recommendations, and supporting national early warning systems. The officer will design, coordinate, and monitor emergency and early recovery assistance, including responses to floods and population displacements, utilizing appropriate transfer modalities.
