These positions are within Country Offices, where doctors report administratively to the WFP Clinics Coordinator and technically to the WFP Clinics Senior Doctor. The role is crucial for ensuring the health and well-being of WFP staff and their dependents.
Job Purpose
The WFP Clinic Doctor is responsible for providing comprehensive primary healthcare and clinical care oversight to eligible staff members and their dependents in designated duty stations, including remote field locations. This role involves delivering evidence-based medical services, managing acute and chronic conditions, performing diagnostic tests, and dispensing medications. The doctor will also play a key role in health promotion, illness prevention, and providing medical support during emergencies, including evacuations. Maintaining accurate medical records, ensuring patient confidentiality, and collaborating with local medical facilities are essential. The position requires the ability to manage medical emergencies with limited resources and contribute to the overall health preparedness of WFP personnel.
Responsibilities

Doctors are expected to manage both acute and chronic medical conditions, ensuring continuity of care and follow-up. Early detection and support for mental health conditions, with appropriate referrals, are also key. Dispensing medications according to international standards and providing patient guidance are essential. The doctor will maintain accurate, confidential electronic medical records and provide support during medical evacuations and repatriations. They will conduct medical examinations, recommend sick leave, and advise on medical travel. Health promotion, illness/injury prevention, and ensuring medical preparedness for staff missions, including vaccinations and travel advice, are also part of the duties. Collaboration with the Senior Doctor on complex cases and maintaining good relations with external medical facilities are crucial. The role requires reporting on staff health status, local medical support, and preparing periodic reports on clinic activities.
