Organizational Context
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian organization, dedicated to saving lives in emergencies and building pathways to peace and prosperity through food assistance. WFP Jordan's External Relations Unit seeks a Communications Associate to enhance the organization's visibility and reputation, support donor recognition, and contribute to fundraising efforts.
Job Purpose
The Communications Associate G6 will support the External Relations and Communications Officer in executing specialized communication activities to bolster WFP Jordan's visibility and reputation. This role involves contributing to country-specific communication work plans, developing and preparing content for various media platforms, and coordinating the production of visual and audio materials. The incumbent will also assist in managing media coverage, organizing events, and maintaining stakeholder relationships to ensure consistent messaging and effective promotion of WFP's activities and donor contributions. This position requires a proactive approach to information dissemination and a commitment to upholding WFP's corporate communication standards.
Responsibilities
The role involves supporting the External Relations and Communications Officer in executing specialized communication activities to enhance WFP's visibility and reputation. Key responsibilities include contributing to country-specific communication work plans, preparing and disseminating content for various platforms (traditional and social media, print), and managing audio-visual materials. The position requires conducting research, suggesting ideas, and coordinating projects like video, photography, and radio productions. It also entails serving as an information focal point, supporting media coverage, and organizing special events in collaboration with internal and external partners. Monitoring traditional and social media, reporting findings, and maintaining stakeholder relationships are crucial. The role demands responding to specialized queries, distributing communication guidelines, updating internal records, and implementing improvements to communication methods. A strong understanding of WFP communication techniques, awareness of the socio-political context, and proficiency in Arabic and English are essential. Desired skills include knowledge of graphic design and content creation tools.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 6 years of experience. Of this, at least 5 years must be in the specific field of the position. An additional year of experience is required in any field, though experience in the same or a related field is preferred. Demonstrated understanding of WFP communication techniques and awareness of the socio-political context is essential. Desired skills include knowledge of graphic design and content creation tools like Canva and Adobe Illustrator.
