Job Purpose

The IT Network Consultant will provide senior expertise to support WFP's global network, voice, and video collaboration services. This role is crucial for transitioning from legacy PBX infrastructure to modern Unified Communications and will act as a technical lead for enterprise video conferencing services. The consultant will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining resilient enterprise network connectivity, optimizing performance across various environments, and providing guidance on network security. Key responsibilities include managing network technologies such as LAN, WAN, wireless, satellite, and SD-WAN, ensuring seamless integration with cloud platforms, and supporting capacity planning through telemetry and analytics. The consultant will also play a vital role in vendor management and producing essential technical documentation to enhance operational readiness and service improvement.

Responsibilities

The IT Network Consultant will be responsible for supporting the World Food Programme's global network, voice, and video collaboration services. This involves providing senior expertise in enterprise networking, unified communications, secure voice, cloud-connected platforms, and managed connectivity. Key duties include designing, implementing, and maintaining resilient network connectivity across headquarters, field offices, and cloud environments, while optimizing performance and mitigating security threats. The consultant will develop and maintain standards, SOPs, and roadmaps for various network technologies, including LAN, WAN, wireless, satellite, and SD-WAN. They will also provide expertise on routing, VPNs, QoS, and cloud integration, and analyze service data and technology trends to enhance resiliency and bandwidth planning. A significant part of the role involves supporting the transition from legacy PBX infrastructure to modern Unified Communications services and acting as a technical lead for enterprise video conferencing, such as Microsoft Teams Rooms and webcast platforms. Additionally, the consultant will manage vendor relationships, provide architectural guidance, produce technical documentation, and potentially support field missions and on-call duties.

Work Experience

Requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience in enterprise networking, unified communications, voice, video conferencing, and collaboration services. This includes expertise in network planning, implementation, and troubleshooting for various environments (LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, cloud), routing, switching, QoS, VPNs, firewalls, and zero-trust principles. Proficiency in network monitoring, SIP, SBC, Microsoft Teams Phone, and enterprise video conferencing platforms is also essential.
