Job Purpose
The Programme Officer will support policy and programme activities to effectively meet food assistance needs. This involves contributing to the development of diverse projects and plans, ensuring alignment with WFP's policies and guidance. The role requires providing project management support for complex programs, coordinating with wider initiatives, and maintaining rigorous data gathering and monitoring systems. Responsibilities include researching and analyzing policy and operational issues, preparing accurate reports, and liaising with internal and external counterparts to ensure effective collaboration and monitor project risks. The position also entails supporting partnership development, capacity building for staff and partners, and guiding junior staff, all while representing the organization in high-level discussions and undertaking travel to field locations.
Responsibilities

The role also supports the identification, development, and management of partnerships to enhance food assistance packages and contributes to capacity building for WFP staff, partners, and national governments in food assistance response. Additionally, the position may involve guiding and supervising junior staff, acting as a point of referral, and providing analytical support. The candidate must demonstrate the capacity to represent WFP in high-level discussions and be willing to travel frequently to field locations.
Work Experience
The role requires an advanced university degree in a relevant field or a first university degree with additional experience. Desired experience includes deepened technical knowledge in areas like food security or nutrition, leadership in program implementation, input into policy discussions, and experience working with national/subnational government institutions in humanitarian/development contexts. Fluency in Spanish and English is essential.
