Job Purpose
The Senior Driver will provide efficient and safe transportation services for WFP senior staff, high-ranking UN officials, and visitors in Kathmandu. This role involves ensuring the security and readiness of assigned vehicles, maintaining accurate logbooks, and coordinating vehicle maintenance. The Senior Driver will also assist with airport meet-and-greets, basic customs formalities, and delivery/collection of items. Additionally, the position requires planning and assigning routes for other drivers, performing basic office tasks outside of driving duties, and adhering strictly to all WFP safety and security regulations. The incumbent will work closely with the MS Assistant (Fleet Management) and the Business Support Associate, Office of the Country Director, contributing to the smooth operation of transport-related services.
Responsibilities
The Senior Driver's primary responsibility is to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of senior WFP staff, high-ranking UN officials, and visitors. This includes providing secure transit, adhering to authorized routes, and complying with UN safety and security regulations. The role also involves maintaining a high level of preparedness, ensuring the vehicle is always ready for immediate deployment. A key aspect is the coordination of transport-related services, which may include planning routes and schedules for other drivers. The Senior Driver will also assist with meeting and greeting officials and visitors at entry points, offering basic support with formalities to ensure smooth arrivals. Accurate record-keeping, such as maintaining vehicle logbooks and reporting on mechanical status, is crucial for efficient vehicle use and cost management. The position requires proactive planning for vehicle maintenance, ensuring vehicles are fully equipped and functional. Beyond driving, the role may encompass basic office tasks like filing, photocopying, and managing mail services, providing essential administrative support. The incumbent must demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility, professionalism, and a client-oriented approach, with flexibility to work extended hours and respond to urgent requests.
Work Experience
Requires three or more years of experience as a Driver. Preference is given to candidates with experience in international organizations, embassies, or the UN system. A demonstrated safe driving record is essential.
