Job Purpose
The Monitoring Assistant will support the effective delivery of assistance packages to Sahrawi refugees in Algeria by conducting on-site monitoring of WFP's food and complementary activities. This role involves verifying the quantity and quality of distributed food, collecting market price data, and gathering beneficiary feedback through focus group discussions and questionnaires. The incumbent will be responsible for entering collected data into WFP's platforms, assisting with physical inventory checks, and contributing to the preparation of monthly and quarterly monitoring reports. This position requires close coordination with partners, local authorities, and the M&E team to ensure WFP standards are met and to identify programmatic issues and good practices. The role also involves contributing to various assessments and WFP visibility activities within the refugee camps.
Responsibilities
The Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant will play a crucial role in overseeing the implementation of food and cash-based transfer (CBT) assistance programs for Sahrawi refugees. This involves coordinating and monitoring food dispatches and distributions, ensuring the quantity and quality of received food align with WFP standards. The role requires close collaboration with local authorities and partners to monitor various activities, including school feeding and nutrition programs. A key responsibility is collecting monthly market price data and preparing discussion topics for focus group discussions with beneficiaries. The assistant will be responsible for entering all collected monitoring data into the MODA platform and distribution data into the COMET system, ensuring monthly reconciliation. They will also conduct monthly physical inventories of food supplies and update the M&E recommendations matrix. Regular reporting on concerns raised by refugees and partners is essential, along with documenting operational practices and any observed gender or protection issues. The position involves contributing to various assessments and missions, participating in and organizing community events, and ensuring WFP visibility. Guidance may be provided to other team members on monitoring best practices. The role requires adherence to emergency response procedures and may involve other assigned unit tasks.
Work Experience
Requires at least two years of experience in monitoring project implementation activities. Experience in data collection, data analysis, and monitoring and evaluation within a humanitarian context is also necessary. Familiarity with analyzing program output and outcome data is beneficial.
