Job Purpose
The Workshop Associate (Chef Mecanicien) G6 will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the maintenance and repair of WFP's light vehicles, trucks, and generators across Haiti. This role involves leading and technically guiding the country office's mechanics, ensuring all vehicles and equipment are in optimal working condition. The incumbent will manage workshop activities, including diagnostics, repair planning, spare parts inventory, and the use of the Fleet Management System (FMS). They will also be responsible for supervising mechanics, ensuring adherence to technical procedures, safety standards, and hygiene protocols, and contributing to accurate service billing for humanitarian partners. This position is crucial for maintaining WFP's operational fleet efficiency and reliability in Haiti.
Responsibilities
The Workshop Associate (Chief Mechanic) is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the maintenance and repair of WFP vehicles and generators across Haiti. This includes planning activities, organizing repair work, and assigning tasks to personnel in various workshops. The role involves diagnosing vehicle issues, defining necessary repairs, and monitoring ongoing work in both Port-au-Prince and sub-offices. A key responsibility is supervising and controlling the use of the Fleet Management System (FMS) and ensuring the proper management of spare parts stores. The associate will also support and train administrative assistants on FMS usage, establish monthly maintenance schedules, and ensure the correct use and management of tools. They must verify completed work, ensure vehicles undergo proper testing before release, and maintain workshop cleanliness and safety standards. Additionally, the role involves managing subordinate staff, producing daily, weekly, monthly, and annual workshop reports, and providing data for service billing. The associate will also coordinate spare parts requests from sub-offices, prepare mechanic leave plans, and handle petty cash requests, all under the supervision of the National Logistics Manager.
Work Experience
Requires at least 6 years of progressively responsible experience as a supervisor of automotive repair mechanics.
