Job Purpose
The IT Operations Officer (Digital Services) will contribute to the development and implementation of efficient and effective IT solutions that empower staff to deliver vital food assistance to beneficiaries, aligning with WFP's strategic objectives. This role involves managing the deployment and maintenance of IT systems and networks, ensuring robust data security and user support. The officer will also contribute to IT procurement processes, analyze data for cost-efficiency improvements, and stay abreast of technological advancements. Key responsibilities include providing technical advice, resolving user issues, guiding junior staff, and collaborating with stakeholders to understand and meet business requirements through innovative IT solutions.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities involve contributing to the development and deployment of IT/TC systems, ensuring they align with business needs and WFP corporate standards. This includes managing plans and budgets for IT systems, as well as monitoring and maintaining existing systems and networks. A key aspect is ensuring robust data security and access controls, while also supporting users to maximize the benefits derived from these systems. The role requires contributing to technical specifications and tender documents for IT procurement, aiming for cost-efficiency in line with WFP regulations. Analyzing data to produce accurate reports on IT activities, investments, and costs is essential, with a focus on identifying opportunities for cost savings. Maintaining and advancing technical expertise, staying abreast of industry developments, and providing expert advice to managers and users are also crucial. This includes resolving issues and ensuring adherence to IT policies and procedures. Furthermore, the role involves guiding and supervising junior staff, designing training programs, and acting as a point of reference for complex queries. Effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders, building partnerships, and understanding user needs to provide appropriate technical solutions are vital. The position also requires adherence to emergency preparedness and contingency planning for IT services, capturing and documenting business requirements for IT solutions, and communicating these requirements effectively. Managing IT service levels against SLAs, conducting user satisfaction surveys, and overseeing project management aspects like estimates, risk identification, and issue resolution are also key duties. Finally, developing and deploying IT systems, writing technical specifications, maintaining documentation, and configuring/customizing IT systems, including data integration and migration, are integral to the role.
Work Experience
Requires 3 years of professional/managerial experience in Information Management and System Development. Experience should include assisting in system/application design and development to meet business needs, resolving IT support issues using specialized knowledge, and contributing to IT projects through business requirements analysis. Experience with International Organizations, Governments, or the UN system is preferred.
