Job Purpose
The IT Operations Associate will be responsible for coordinating and guiding essential Information Technology maintenance and support activities. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective and reliable delivery of IT services across WFP operations. The associate will perform system and hardware maintenance, monitor technology reliability, and analyze data to recommend IT solutions. They will also resolve user queries, provide technical training to end-users and junior colleagues, and support the implementation of new applications. Additionally, the role involves drafting technical documentation, improving IT processes, coordinating telecommunications systems, and potentially leading IT staff to meet objectives and support emergency food assistance needs.
Responsibilities
The IT Operations Associate is responsible for ensuring the effective functioning of technology systems and hardware through regular maintenance, including specialized network monitoring and system protection. This role involves monitoring technology reliability, analyzing user needs, and processing data to generate reports that recommend IT solutions for informed decision-making. The associate must independently resolve IT queries, escalating when necessary, and provide accurate information to staff. Key responsibilities include delivering technical training to end-users, guiding junior colleagues in IT support, and coordinating the implementation of new applications. Additionally, the role entails drafting technical documentation, improving IT division processes for continuous service enhancement, and managing the installation and maintenance of telecommunications systems. The associate also coordinates IT staff teams to meet objectives and adheres to emergency response procedures to support critical operations.
Work Experience
Requires 6 years of progressive work experience in the relevant business stream. Experience should include administrative work with international organizations like the UN. Additionally, candidates need experience in analyzing service management results, developing enhancement recommendations, participating in business process re-engineering, identifying service management improvements, and involvement in country office procurement/budgeting processes.
