Job Purpose
The Mechanic Assistant will support the WFP operations in Gonaïves, Haiti, by ensuring the effective repair and maintenance of light vehicles, trucks, and generators. This role is crucial for maintaining the fleet's operational readiness, which is essential for the timely delivery of humanitarian assistance. The incumbent will perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. Responsibilities include managing spare parts, maintaining workshop orderliness, and preparing necessary documentation for fleet management systems. This position directly contributes to WFP's mission by ensuring reliable transportation and operational support in a challenging environment.
Responsibilities
The Electro-Automobile Mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of light vehicles, trucks, and generators essential for the World Food Programme's (WFP) operations in Gonaïves, Haiti. This role involves diagnosing and fixing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical failures, performing major repairs on components like gearboxes, engines, and braking systems, and ensuring the proper functioning of all mechanical and hydraulic systems according to technical guidelines. The mechanic will also conduct regular inspections, plan repair interventions, and manage the disassembly and reassembly of defective parts, adhering to safety and technological procedures. Additionally, the position requires managing spare parts, including preparing requests, receiving physical stock, issuing parts upon approval, and maintaining accurate inventory records. This includes preparing parts orders, classifying and archiving management documents, and ensuring storage areas are kept clean. The mechanic will also be responsible for handling used parts and preparing daily garage reports for data entry, contributing to the efficient management of the WFP's vehicle fleet and ensuring operational continuity.
Work Experience
Requires at least two years of progressive experience in automotive mechanics and electrical work.
