Job Purpose

Responsibilities
The Logistics Officer role involves contributing to the development and implementation of logistical plans and processes, ensuring strict adherence to WFP's policies and operational standards. Key responsibilities include supporting daily logistics operations such as warehousing, repacking, and dispatching of food supplies to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant delivery. This role requires ensuring good practices in food management and handling within warehouses, reinforcing loading and unloading procedures to minimize losses and damage, and promptly reporting incidents for corrective actions. The officer will collect, analyze, and interpret logistics data, providing operational recommendations to supervisors to enhance local operations' performance and reliability. They will also plan and align transportation capacity with distribution plans, manage daily dispatch pipelines, and adjust transport capacity proactively to address operational changes or emergencies. Furthermore, the role entails preparing and disseminating accurate logistics reports, mentoring and supporting logistics support staff, and contributing to capacity building for WFP staff and partners on logistics management. Maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues and partners, supporting emergency preparedness and response activities, managing fuel, and supervising workshop activities are also crucial aspects of this position.
Work Experience
A minimum of one year of post-university professional experience in supply chain is required. Additionally, experience in specific business sectors is necessary.
