IT Solutions Associate
Organizational Context
These positions are within country offices, regional bureaux, or headquarters. The incumbents report to the Head of Unit, Service Chief, or IT Solutions Developer. At this level, incumbents are expected to demonstrate responsibility and initiative in independently addressing issues with only general guidance. They must exercise judgment to manage day-to-day unforeseen situations.
Job Purpose
The IT Solutions Associate will provide technical support in the development, maintenance, testing, and installation of IT solutions, aligning with operational needs. This role involves writing code to develop and deploy efficient IT solution components, and maintaining technical documentation for system upkeep. The associate will conduct unit or integrated tests for new code, enhancements, or fixes to ensure compliance with technical specifications. They will assist in installing, configuring, and customizing IT systems according to WFP's IT standards and procedures. Additionally, the role includes supporting IT system deployment and providing start-up assistance for effective solution implementation and user adoption. The IT Solutions Associate will independently handle user queries, escalating complex issues as needed, and assist in preparing training materials for automated operational procedures to ensure efficient system utilization. They will also collect and aggregate data, performing simple analyses to support accurate reporting.
Responsibilities
The IT Solutions Associate is responsible for providing technical support in the development, maintenance, testing, and installation of IT solutions. This includes writing efficient and effective code, and ensuring solutions align with operational needs. A key duty is maintaining up-to-date technical documentation to facilitate system maintenance. The role involves conducting unit and integrated tests on new code, enhancements, and fixes to ensure compliance with technical specifications. Additionally, the associate assists with the installation, configuration, and customization of IT systems, adhering to organizational standards and procedures. They also support system deployment and provide go-live assistance to ensure smooth user adoption. Responding to user queries autonomously and escalating complex issues when necessary is crucial for providing accurate information and timely support. The role also contributes to preparing training materials and organizing training sessions on automated operating procedures. Furthermore, the associate collects and analyzes data to aid in the creation of precise reports. Functional competencies include understanding IT governance, strategy, and architecture, as well as basic project management principles for planning and resource estimation. A strong technical aptitude, continuous learning of new technologies, and the ability to define and manage user needs through relevant technical functionalities are essential. The associate designs, codes, tests, corrects, and documents programs based on provided specifications, using agreed-upon standards and tools.
Work Experience
The role requires at least six years of experience in the IT field. This experience should include assisting IT team members in enhancing their technical skills and staying updated with industry advancements. Additionally, candidates should have gained technical knowledge through hands-on experience with IT operations. The position also values functional competencies in IT governance, strategy, architecture, change management, project planning, and technical skills, including system design and solution development.
