In crises, WFP collaborates with partners to provide essential assistance, including food, cash, or emergency logistics.
Job Purpose
The Supply Chain Associate (Capacity Strengthening) will coordinate and support the implementation of regional supply chain projects and activities. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective and timely delivery of project outcomes and operational objectives across the Caribbean. The associate will analyze supply chain contexts, identify challenges, and contribute to developing practical solutions to enhance efficiency. They will also assist in implementing new supply chain initiatives, document best practices, and support knowledge-sharing activities. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including government entities and NGOs, is key to ensuring coordinated operations and adherence to WFP policies. The position also involves monitoring activities, budgets, and resources, and contributing to preparedness actions for emergency responses.
Responsibilities
The role involves supporting the planning, implementation, and monitoring of supply chain capacity strengthening activities in collaboration with various partners, including national authorities and CDEMA. Key responsibilities include analyzing country and regional supply chain contexts to identify challenges and develop practical solutions for improved efficiency. The position requires assisting in the implementation of new supply chain initiatives and tools, ensuring coordination with core activities and stakeholders. A significant aspect of the role is contributing to the identification and sharing of best practices and lessons learned from diverse sources. Furthermore, the incumbent will support the monitoring of activities, budgets, and resources to ensure effective utilization and timely delivery of outputs. Collaboration with internal and external supply chain functions, including government entities, UN agencies, NGOs, and private sector partners, is crucial for coordinated operations. Adherence to supply chain policies, procedures, and controls, focusing on quality, risk mitigation, and cost efficiency, is also essential. The role includes supporting accurate and timely reporting on supply chain activities and contributing to preparedness actions through risk analysis and contingency planning. The position may also require supporting emergency response activities and deploying to affected countries as needed, potentially working beyond regular hours.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of six years of relevant experience in supply chain, logistics, capacity strengthening, or project coordination. Experience in planning, coordinating, and implementing supply chain initiatives, analyzing supply chain systems, documenting best practices, working with multiple stakeholders, and data analysis/reporting is also desired.
