Connecting Global Supporters to Girls’ Education in Kenya
Organizational Context
Progressive Volunteers (PV) has operated in Kenya since 2007, supporting local organizations by recruiting volunteers for community development. PV partners with the Educate and Empower Organization (EEO), a nonprofit established in 2022, to advance girls' education in Homa Bay County. Their joint initiative, 'Educate a Girl - Change a Life Kenya,' aims to empower disadvantaged girls through education, mentorship, and skills development, with a 2027 program goal to mobilize resources for their continued learning and empowerment.
Job Purpose
This assignment seeks passionate and creative volunteers from the Global North to support the 2027 educational fundraising campaign for vulnerable girls in Kenya. Volunteers will collaborate remotely with EEO's team, utilizing their professional skills, digital networks, and initiative to strengthen and expand the campaign. The goal is to mobilize international donors, fundraising communities, and supporters to provide educational assistance and mentorship, enabling girls to pursue their aspirations and become agents of change. The role involves project management support for fundraising activities.
Responsibilities
Volunteers will support the planning, implementation, and promotion of EEO's 2027 educational fundraising campaign. Key activities include developing an online fundraising strategy, identifying potential international individual donors, diaspora communities, and philanthropic networks. Volunteers will also research and engage professional networks and community groups in their home countries to promote the campaign. Responsibilities extend to crafting compelling fundraising messages, emails, and promotional materials, and building international partnerships with educational institutions and organizations. Additionally, volunteers will help develop impact stories and campaign content, monitor fundraising progress, donor outreach, and campaign engagement, and prepare a final report with achievements and recommendations.
Work Experience
Experience or a strong interest in online fundraising, crowdfunding, digital marketing, nonprofit development, or international development is required. Candidates should possess strong written communication skills for creating engaging content, familiarity with social media platforms for campaign promotion, and the ability to identify funding opportunities and research potential donors. Previous experience with nonprofit organizations or online fundraising platforms is advantageous.
