Organizational Context

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) combats illicit drugs, crime, and terrorism globally. Its Regional Office for Southeast Asia and the Pacific (ROSEAP), with a presence in Fiji, supports Member States with technical assistance on rule of law and security threats. The Pacific region faces increasingly complex transnational organized crime, necessitating accessible, evidence-based information. UNODC produces analytical products to aid partners in addressing these challenges, contributing to SDG 16.

Job Purpose

This role supports UNODC Pacific in transforming substantive analysis into clear, accessible, and professionally designed knowledge products. The assignment focuses on graphic design and layout for materials such as information on drug control standards and factsheets on conventions. These products will be disseminated to government counterparts and regional organizations, enhancing evidence-based responses to illicit drugs and transnational organized crime in the Pacific. The volunteer's contribution directly supports UNODC's efforts and Sustainable Development Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by improving the visual communication of critical information.

Responsibilities

Under the guidance of a Regional Adviser and in collaboration with focal points, the Online Volunteer will produce graphic designs and layouts for two UNODC information products: a 10-page document on international drug control standards and a 3-page factsheet on drug control conventions. Key tasks include developing visual concepts aligned with UNODC branding, transforming provided content into engaging materials, formatting text and visual elements, ensuring design consistency, incorporating feedback, and delivering final print-ready and editable files. The designs will support a Drug Data Workshop in Fiji.

Work Experience

Professional experience in graphic design is required, with a focus on document layouts. In-depth knowledge of graphic design applications is necessary. Candidates are encouraged to submit a portfolio showcasing relevant design work.

Skills

Proficiency in graphic design applications, strong visual concept development, document layout design, and adherence to corporate branding guidelines. Good verbal and written communication skills in English are essential. Expertise areas include communication, advocacy, public information, art, and design.
