Multimedia and Graphic Design Support for WFP
Organizational Context
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian organization, dedicated to saving lives and building peace through food assistance. Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020, WFP operates in over 120 countries. The Internal Communications team specifically focuses on creating materials to inform and engage staff, supporting country offices and emergency operations. There is a recognized need for practical, adaptable resources and templates to streamline the production of professional communications.
Job Purpose
This assignment aims to support WFP's Internal Communications team by developing a reusable library of graphic design assets and communication templates. The goal is to provide WFP communications officers with practical, ready-to-use resources that enable the quick and consistent production of professional materials. These resources, including presentations, newsletters, and one-pagers, should be easily adaptable and accessible for use in Microsoft 365 and common design applications. Online Volunteers will contribute to enhancing internal communication efficiency and consistency, potentially undertaking ad-hoc design tasks for WFP's intranet and internal communities.
Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the WFP Internal Communications team, Online Volunteers will provide graphic design and multimedia content support. Key responsibilities include creating editable templates and design assets based on briefs, developing materials for applications like Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Canva, and Adobe Photoshop, and designing various communication products such as emails, presentations, one-pagers, and digital banners. Volunteers will also adapt and improve existing materials, ensuring they are accessible and easy for non-designers to use. This involves developing design concepts, incorporating feedback, and preparing editable source files for handover, all while adhering to WFP's corporate design guidelines. Approximately 4-6 completed templates or assets are expected per volunteer.
Work Experience
Demonstrated skills or experience in graphic design, visual communication, or multimedia production are required, with an ability to create clear, engaging, and user-friendly materials.
