The Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD), established in 2011 in partnership with the Government of Turkey, is a UNDP Global Policy Centre. It supports the private sector and foundations as development partners through research, advocacy, and partnership brokering. The Center focuses on inclusive business, skills development, impact investing, and resilience. It also hosts several global initiatives.
Job Purpose
This online volunteer will deliver an 8-week masterclass on Wireless Network Design & Performance Optimization for IoT Systems. The course aims to prepare Future Tech Leaders (FTL) Syria participants for professional certification exams in IoT and wireless networking. This assignment follows the program's AI Bootcamp and Intelligent Climate Monitoring & IoT Systems Workshop, contributing to the development of advanced technical skills in the region. The volunteer will develop curriculum and training materials.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will develop and deliver an 8-week masterclass on Wireless Network Design & Performance Optimization for IoT Systems, preparing participants for certification exams. Key duties include creating 8 slide decks with exercises, conducting weekly live online lectures covering topics like IoT architectures, wireless fundamentals, LPWAN, communication protocols, coverage planning, optimization, and exam preparation. The volunteer will incorporate practical demonstrations, design a practice exam, answer participant questions during and after sessions, and provide documentation on materials and progress. Sessions will be scheduled for evenings on weekdays and mornings on weekends (Syria time).
Work Experience
Requires professional or research experience in wireless communications or IoT network design. Must possess strong knowledge of LPWAN and short-range technologies (e.g., LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, BLE, Zigbee) and IoT protocols (e.g., MQTT, CoAP). Experience with link budget analysis, coverage planning, and network performance optimization is essential. Teaching or training experience is also required. A relevant professional certification in IoT or wireless networking is advantageous.
Skills
Expertise in Information Technology and Telecommunications, specifically in wireless network design and IoT systems. Proficiency in developing training materials and delivering lectures. Strong knowledge of relevant technologies and protocols. Excellent communication skills in English. Ability to conduct practical demonstrations and provide technical guidance.
