Job Purpose
This UNV assignment supports UNICEF Pakistan's education programme, specifically focusing on foundational learning (FL), early childhood education (ECE), and accelerated learning programmes (ALPs) for out-of-school children. The role involves assisting in the implementation and monitoring of these programmes in collaboration with federal and provincial education departments. The objective is to contribute to coherent, costed, and measurable policy implementation, including supporting national and provincial FL hubs and ensuring quality education delivery across key provinces. The assignment aims to improve access, retention, and the quality of pre-primary and primary education.
Responsibilities
The Learning Support Associate will provide crucial support to UNICEF's education programme outputs, focusing on foundational learning, early childhood education, and accelerated learning for out-of-school children. Key duties include monitoring implementation progress, compiling field updates, and tracking action points from technical working groups. The role involves supporting research for policy briefs, collecting and organizing programme information, and assisting with tracking children's return to learning. Additionally, the associate will help refine professional development processes, coordinate on cross-cutting priorities like child safeguarding, and consolidate progress updates. Responsibilities also extend to drafting reports, maintaining trackers for commitments and deliverables, and preparing first drafts of situation updates and donor reports. Support for the national and provincial Foundational Learning Hubs is critical, including maintaining resource repositories and tracking programme roll-outs. The role includes compiling education data into infographics, maintaining databases, and preparing presentations for meetings. Administrative and logistical support for workshops and meetings, along with maintaining event calendars, is also required. Finally, the associate will contribute to communication efforts by drafting internal notes, partner updates, and supporting the development of advocacy materials.
Work Experience
A minimum of one month of relevant experience is required. Experience in education, social sciences, development studies, public policy, or economics is preferred. Experience with education sector planning, coordination, or monitoring, as well as working within the UN or international development organizations, is considered an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and strong organizational, drafting, and reporting skills are essential.
