Organizational Context

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) mobilizes and coordinates humanitarian assistance globally. In Venezuela, OCHA manages the "Contact Line," an inter-agency mechanism for affected populations to seek information and provide feedback on the humanitarian response. As part of its outreach strategy, OCHA Venezuela has redesigned its print and digital materials. A subsequent technical review identified necessary adjustments for content, accessibility, and graphic application before publication.

Job Purpose

This role supports OCHA Venezuela in implementing approved modifications to the redesigned "Contact Line" materials. The assignment focuses on applying technical review recommendations to existing, pre-designed pieces, rather than creating new visual identities. The volunteer will work with the Public Information Unit, receiving necessary files, a recommendation matrix, and feedback. The goal is to ensure consistent and accurate application of approved changes across various communication materials, enhancing their effectiveness and accessibility for the target audience.

Responsibilities

The volunteer will support OCHA Venezuela by implementing approved modifications to the redesigned "Contact Line" materials. This involves working with editable files provided by OCHA, maintaining master files, and applying clear version control nomenclature. Recommendations from the technical review will be applied, with non-recommended proposals remaining unchanged unless otherwise instructed. The task includes updating seven families of materials: social media carousels, posters, banners, cards, flyers, stickers, and horizontal banners. Specific updates will involve reviewing hierarchy, legibility, contrast, and usability, as well as updating contact channels, schedules, QR codes, and validated texts on confidentiality, gratuity, and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse. The approved architecture, including the campaign name "Speak with the UN," the official name "Contact Line," and the slogan "We grow in community," must be maintained. Deliverables include editable Canva versions, high-resolution final PDFs for print, optimized digital files, and a matrix detailing implemented changes.

Work Experience

Demonstrable experience in graphic design or visual communication, supported by a portfolio of print and digital pieces. Advanced proficiency in Canva and the ability to edit existing templates without altering institutional structure are essential. Experience with typographic hierarchy, composition, contrast, final artwork preparation, and content adaptation to various formats is required. Attention to detail, ability to follow technical feedback, manage work versions, and document changes are also necessary.
