Job Purpose

The volunteers will review submitted materials from humanitarian organizations, identify compelling life stories with sufficient documentation, and create a matrix to track information and potential issues. The goal is to document the impact of humanitarian responses through engaging written articles and professional audiovisual pieces, contributing to OCHA's communication efforts.
Responsibilities
Review submitted stories, photographs, recorded interviews, videos, and publications from Humanitarian Communications Group member organizations. Identify compelling life stories with adequate material for development. Create a matrix to record source organization, location, activity, identifiable persons, production date, and usage restrictions, noting missing information or protection concerns. Present a shortlist of up to four cases for OCHA's selection of two stories based on quality and production feasibility. Produce two written articles (600-800 words each) with titles, introductions, verified quotes, response information, and context, including captioned photographs. Create two audiovisual pieces (max. 1 min 30 sec each) in MP4 format, with horizontal (16:9) and vertical (9:16) versions, including framing, labels, and subtitles. Edit scripts, select shots, assemble footage, perform basic color correction, treat audio, add labels, credits, and subtitles, incorporating feedback from OCHA through two rounds of revisions.
