Job Purpose
This role supports the Comoros Ministry of Education's digital transformation agenda, aligned with the UNICEF-Government cooperation program. The objective is to enhance learning quality, equity, and system resilience through digital initiatives. The volunteer will provide technical support for the national digitalization strategy, help structure the vision for digital education, and coordinate partner interventions. Key tasks include strengthening digital platforms (e-Msomo, e-Shiyo), improving connectivity, ensuring data cybersecurity, and reinforcing information systems for education management. The role aims to integrate digital education effectively, ensuring accessibility for all children and leveraging data for evidence-based decision-making, ultimately reducing educational inequalities.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Education Specialist, the UN Volunteer will evaluate and strengthen educational digital platforms, school connectivity, data cybersecurity, and information systems for education management in Comoros. Key responsibilities include providing technical support for the national digitalization strategy's development and implementation, assisting the Ministry of Education in defining digital education priorities and aligning partner interventions. The volunteer will ensure coordination and coherence of digital initiatives, enhance the functionality and adoption of platforms like e-Msomo and e-Shiyo, and support the development of a favorable digital environment by monitoring connectivity and identifying suitable technical solutions. Emphasis will be placed on integrating the needs of children with disabilities, ensuring digital accessibility, promoting gender equity, and addressing geographical disparities. The role also involves contributing to data collection, analysis, and visualization tools to foster a data-driven management culture and ensuring skills transfer for sustainability.
Work Experience
Requires 7 years of relevant experience. This includes knowledge of digital learning platforms and educational content management, experience in developing or administering educational platforms, familiarity with open and distance learning approaches, and understanding of digital educational resources. Experience with data analysis tools, school connectivity challenges, digital solutions for resource-limited environments, and basic knowledge of networks, hosting, cloud, and platform maintenance are also important. Familiarity with solarization for digital equipment and data security principles is beneficial.
