GBV Humanitarian Project Assistant
Organizational Context
UNFPA has been active in Yemen since the early 1970s, shifting its country program to a humanitarian response in 2015 due to a Level 3 emergency. The agency focuses on reproductive health, protecting women and girls from gender-based violence (GBV), and fulfilling young people's potential. In Yemen's complex humanitarian crisis, characterized by conflict, displacement, and service breakdown, women and girls are disproportionately affected, facing increased protection risks and GBV. This role supports UNFPA's humanitarian efforts.

This role acts as a key liaison between the UNFPA Aden Country Office, regional sub-offices, and national implementing partners. The incumbent will be responsible for tracking program deliverables, consolidating field data, monitoring service delivery platforms, and managing the supply pipeline for essential items like Dignity Kits. The position is vital for ensuring the effective and timely implementation of GBV prevention and response activities in a challenging humanitarian environment, contributing to UNFPA's mandate of ending GBV and protecting vulnerable populations.
Responsibilities
The GBV Humanitarian Assistant will support the day-to-day operational implementation of the GBV program across various hubs. Key duties include tracking implementing partner deliverables, work plans, and activity milestones. The role involves collecting, verifying, and consolidating monthly and quarterly programmatic reports and indicator data from hub focal points and local partners. The assistant will serve as a coordination link between the Aden Country Office and sub-offices (Mukalla, Marib, Taizz, Aden) to address administrative, reporting, and implementation bottlenecks. Additionally, the incumbent will assist in drafting donor progress reports, briefing notes, meeting minutes, and quarterly indicator summaries for the GBV team. The role also includes assisting in monitoring supply pipelines, particularly for Dignity Kits, across target locations.

Requires 3 years of relevant experience, including program monitoring, tracking deliverables, and managing work plans. Strong skills in data management, tracking, and report writing are essential. Proficiency in English and Arabic is necessary. Experience with UN/UNFPA emergency procedures and knowledge of supply pipeline monitoring are considered assets.
Skills
Competencies include accountability, adaptability, flexibility, creativity, judgment, decision-making, planning, organizing, professionalism, and self-management. Expertise areas include legal affairs, humanitarian affairs, and protection. Strong coordination and communication skills are vital for liaising with sub-offices, partners, and stakeholders.
