The incumbent will contribute to assessing conflict dynamics, threats, and risks by liaising with various internal and external actors. The position requires functioning effectively both in and out of an office context, potentially substituting for the JMAC Goma Team Leader, and maintaining strong working relationships with national staff and diverse stakeholders. The analysis produced will inform policy, planning, and advocacy efforts.

Responsibilities

The role involves interacting with state and non-state actors, civil society, and UN entities to assess conflict dynamics. Responsibilities also include interviewing key players, gathering information on cross-border networks, participating in field missions, and conducting multi-sourced analyses using various intelligence tools (HUMINT, OSINT, IMINT). The incumbent will draft reports, monitor emerging threats, contribute to the Weekly Threat Assessment, and serve as JMAC's liaison with the Goma Field Office. Additionally, the role involves contributing to policy documents and applying an Age, Gender, and Diversity perspective.

Work Experience

A minimum of 3 years of work experience is required, with at least 2 years in hardship contexts, active conflict zones, or complex post-conflict/humanitarian settings. Experience in political transitions or similar environments is highly desirable. Experience in intelligence analysis, source identification, fact-checking, and handling sensitive information is essential. Proficiency in English and French is mandatory. Proven interpersonal and communication skills, including report writing and presentation abilities, are essential. Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to operate independently in challenging environments are required. A genuine commitment to UN core values and the principles of voluntary engagement is expected.
