These efforts involve close collaboration with regional councils, local authorities, community committees, and civil society organizations. The volunteer will serve as a Social Cohesion Officer, acting as a liaison between IOM and communities, supporting community activities, and monitoring their implementation.

Job Purpose

The Social Cohesion Officer will support IOM Djibouti's initiatives in the Obock region, focusing on social cohesion, community resilience, and livelihood support for both host communities and migrant populations. This role involves close collaboration with local authorities and community structures. The volunteer will act as a key link between IOM and the communities, assisting in the organization and facilitation of community consultations, coordination meetings, and awareness sessions. The primary goal is to strengthen dialogue, promote inclusive participation, and foster local ownership of interventions, ultimately contributing to a more cohesive and resilient community environment in Obock.

Responsibilities

Aid in the implementation of planned activities and support colleagues during project site visits, providing timely reports. Monitor commitments made during community meetings and maintain records of their progress. Gather community concerns, needs, and suggestions, ensuring the participation of women, youth, and migrants, and relay this information to the team. Draft minutes of meetings, consultations, and field visits. Contribute to documenting best practices, lessons learned, and testimonials while respecting data protection. Support the visibility of community activities in coordination with IOM's communication team. Perform any other related tasks as requested by the supervisor.
