Organizational Context

UNFPA is the UN agency dedicated to sexual and reproductive health and rights, aiming for a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. It champions the ICPD Programme of Action, centering rights, choices, gender equality, and human dignity in sustainable development. UNFPA supports countries in understanding and adapting to demographic changes through data, analysis, and foresight, fostering inclusive and resilient societies.

Job Purpose

This role supports UNFPA Jordan's efforts to raise public awareness about the 2026 General Population and Housing Census. By leveraging creativity, social media skills, and personal networks, volunteers will help disseminate crucial Census information to communities across Jordan, ensuring wider understanding of its importance for national planning and services. The assignment offers valuable hands-on experience in digital communication, social media outreach, and collaboration within a UN team, contributing directly to an important national initiative and helping Jordan plan for its future.

Responsibilities

Volunteers will join one of three specialized teams: Graphics & Digital Communication, Video & Reels Content Creation, or Digital Dissemination and Outreach. Team 1 will create graphics, carousels, and infographics, adapting messages into engaging Arabic content and suggesting creative outreach ideas. Team 2 will produce Reels and short videos, developing creative hooks and formats to simplify Census information. Team 3 will focus on sharing approved content through online communities and networks, targeting youth and other audiences, identifying new dissemination channels, and tracking activities. All teams will refine content based on feedback.

Work Experience

While specific professional experience is not strictly required, candidates must be fluent in Arabic and ideally have connections within Jordan (friends and family) to aid in dissemination. A commitment of 5-8 hours per week for 4 weeks is expected.

Skills

Key skills include creativity, digital communication, social media proficiency, and outreach capabilities. Volunteers should possess strong communication skills, potentially in graphic design or video creation, and an understanding of advocacy and public information. Familiarity with community development, art, or design is also beneficial. The ability to adapt messages into engaging Arabic content and suggest innovative outreach strategies is important.
