Job Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to translate UNESCO Dakar's annual report from French to Portuguese. This translation is crucial for ensuring the report's accessibility and visibility among Portuguese-speaking partners, civil society, and beneficiary communities within the region. The volunteer's contribution will directly support UNESCO's mandate of communicating its actions and impact effectively across its diverse operational area. Successful completion will enhance stakeholder engagement and understanding of UNESCO's initiatives in West Africa.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility is to accurately translate a 50-page annual report from French into Portuguese. This involves ensuring the translation is of high quality and correctly conveys the original meaning and tone. The volunteer will receive the report via email and is expected to complete the translation by November 1, 2026. The role requires meticulous attention to detail to capture the nuances of the content. The volunteer will receive full credit for their collaboration if the assignment is completed successfully.
Work Experience
The volunteer is expected to have a very good command of French to Portuguese translation. Familiarity with the terminology used within United Nations agencies is also required. This experience ensures the accuracy and professional quality of the translated report.
Skills
Excellent French to Portuguese translation skills. Proficiency in understanding and using terminology specific to United Nations agencies. Native-level Portuguese language proficiency is desirable, as is a working knowledge of French.
