Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this assignment is to translate UNESCO Dakar's 50-page annual report from French to English. This translation is crucial for enhancing the visibility of the office's actions among its partners and stakeholders in English-speaking countries. The successful completion of this task will contribute to the office's annual communication efforts and ensure that its achievements and initiatives are accessible to a wider audience, thereby supporting UNESCO's mission in the region.
Responsibilities
The main responsibility is to provide a high-quality translation of UNESCO Dakar's annual report from French into English. This involves accurately conveying the content and nuances of the original document, ensuring clarity and readability for an English-speaking audience. The volunteer will receive the report via email and is expected to deliver the translated version by November 1, 2026. Successful collaboration will be acknowledged with appropriate credits.
Work Experience
Required experience includes a very strong command of French to English translation. Familiarity with the terminology used within United Nations agencies is also essential for accurate and contextually appropriate translation.
Skills
Key skills include excellent French to English translation abilities, proficiency in UN agency terminology, and strong written communication skills in English. A working knowledge of French is desirable.
