Job Purpose

This assignment focuses on enhancing the visual communication of two key FAO publications: an Agriculture Sector Roadmap and a Financing Action Plan. The volunteer will receive all necessary text, data, and key messages from FAO. The primary objective is to transform this information into a visually clear, engaging, and easily navigable format. The role involves applying graphic design and visualization skills to ensure the publications effectively convey their intended messages and align with FAO's branding, contributing to the project's success in promoting climate action and sustainable agriculture.

Responsibilities

The volunteer will design a 50-70-page climate action publication, developing a professional page layout and visual style. Responsibilities include organizing text, tables, and data with a strong visual hierarchy, and creating infographics, charts, and diagrams to clarify content. The role also involves selecting and integrating suitable visuals like photos and icons, ensuring adherence to FAO branding guidelines for consistency. The volunteer will incorporate feedback from the FAO team to finalize the publication and deliver a web-ready PDF along with editable source files upon completion.

Work Experience

Required experience includes a proven track record in designing reports, publications, strategy documents, or similar long-form materials. Experience in creating infographics, charts, and other information visualization elements is also essential for this role.

Skills

Key skills required are strong abilities in layout, typography, and visual communication. Proficiency in design software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Affinity Publisher, Figma, or equivalent tools is necessary. The ability to create compelling infographics and data visualizations is also crucial.
