The Staff Development & Learning unit specifically focuses on managing and testing online courses for its Learning Management System (LMS), facing an increasing demand that strains existing resources.
Job Purpose
This assignment seeks online volunteers to support the Staff Development & Learning (SDL) unit by conducting technical testing and quality assurance for online course modules. The primary goal is to ensure all courses are fully functional within IOM's Learning Management System (LMS) before publication. Volunteers will verify technical aspects such as hyperlinks, buttons, course progress, content navigation, activities, multimedia elements, and accessibility features like subtitles and transcripts. This support is crucial as the SDL team faces increased workload due to higher demand for course publishing, allowing them to prioritize other critical tasks.
Responsibilities
Online Volunteers will conduct quality screening and technical testing of approximately 20 online course modules per month for IOM's Learning Management System (LMS). This involves ensuring compliance with SDL's technical guidelines and quality assurance checklist. Volunteers are expected to deliver detailed reports after each testing round and coordinate findings with the SDL focal point. Communication will primarily occur via email, chat, and MS Teams. Weekly meetings on Fridays are scheduled to discuss project updates and any encountered issues. Participation in bi-weekly unit or division-wide meetings may also be requested to provide broader updates.
Work Experience
Requires at least one year of professional experience in a relevant field. Experience in administering learning management systems or learning integrated solutions and technologies is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is also necessary.
Skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. The role requires proficiency in English, Arabic, French, and Spanish at a fluent level. Technical skills include knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with learning management systems and related technologies is desirable.
