The Youth and United Nations Global Alliance (YUNGA), hosted by FAO, collaborates with partners to engage youth in sustainable development. YUNGA's Challenge Badges offer educational activities on global issues. This role supports YUNGA's mission by creating accessible educational resources for young people worldwide.

Job Purpose

This role supports the Youth and United Nations Global Alliance (YUNGA) by preparing the layout and graphic design for 16 Challenge Badge publications. The objective is to transform translated and revised content into clear, engaging, and accessible educational resources that align with YUNGA's visual identity. The completed materials will be used by schools, youth groups, and educators globally, helping young people learn about sustainable development and take practical action. The work contributes to expanding YUNGA's multilingual resources and strengthening its outreach, supporting progress towards multiple Sustainable Development Goals.

Responsibilities

The Online Volunteer will produce the layout and graphic design for 16 publications under the guidance of the YUNGA Team and communications team. Key duties include reviewing content and design templates, preparing layouts in existing YUNGA templates ensuring consistent application of visual elements, and formatting text and activities for readability and a youth-friendly presentation. The volunteer will source and adapt visual assets, incorporate feedback from the FAO/YUNGA team, and conduct final quality checks. Responsibilities also include providing final editable source files and publication-ready PDFs, and coordinating with other volunteers for consistency across publications.

Work Experience

Professional experience in graphic design is required, with a focus on designing document layouts. In-depth knowledge of graphic design applications is essential. Experience with Adobe InDesign is implied through the use of existing templates.

Skills

Graphic design, document layout design, proficiency in graphic design applications (e.g., Adobe InDesign), attention to detail, ability to incorporate feedback, understanding of visual hierarchy, typography, and branding guidelines. Good verbal and written communication skills are also required.
