Videography Assistance for SDG 2 & 3
Organizational Context
Simuka Africa Youth Association, established in 2006 in Zimbabwe, is a charitable organization addressing poverty, gender-based violence, and limited educational access for at-risk youth and families. Operating within the framework of SDGs 1-6, the organization focuses on empowering youth through education and career development to combat child marriage and build a better future. The 34 Gallery Initiative is integral to their mission, contributing to high standards as the organization approaches its 20th year.
Job Purpose
This role supports Simuka Africa's critical initiatives in Sustainable Development Goals 2 (Zero Hunger) and 3 (Good Health and Well-being). The assignment aims to create compelling multimedia content, including videos, to raise awareness and drive engagement for programs like the 'Match-A-Meal' campaign addressing food insecurity exacerbated by climate change, and the '34 Gallery Initiative' which focuses on mental health, art therapy, and reducing suicide rates. The videographer's contribution is essential for maintaining organizational standards and effectively communicating the impact of these vital programs to local and international audiences.
Responsibilities
The videographer will create engaging multimedia content for social media campaigns covering SDG 2 (Match-A-Meal program, climate change awareness), SDG 3 (Mental Health Arts Advocacy, Art Therapy Open Calls), and holiday schedules. Key duties include reviewing and verifying high-definition images, proofreading video content, and ensuring the accuracy of all materials. The role involves maintaining professional email communication for project updates, coordinating with the creative team for timely deliverables, and developing social media content for outreach. Additionally, volunteers will participate in using and providing feedback on AI models for graphics creation, and contribute to group discussions on AI integration.
Work Experience
Required experience includes proficiency in social media campaigns and graphic design using tools like Canva and Adobe. Candidates should possess strong attention to detail, excellent proofreading and review capabilities, and visual acuity for quality assessment. Experience in creative industries or content production, familiarity with design software, and social media content creation are assets. Basic technical skills for AI arts, including programming languages like Python and AI frameworks, or experience with Midjourney and ChatGPT, are also relevant.
Skills
Essential skills include strong attention to detail, excellent written communication for professional correspondence, and the ability to work independently. Proficiency in email management and basic administrative software is required. Visual acuity for identifying content errors and reliability in meeting deadlines are crucial. Familiarity with creation tools, design software, and social media content creation is necessary. An interest in AI technology, Mental Health, and Art is desirable. Fluency in English is required; Shona is desirable.
