UNEP India Country Office supports global and regional programmes by collaborating with national and local governments, civil society, UN organizations, research institutions, and the private sector. The office develops communication and knowledge products to raise awareness and build capacity, often requiring technical information to be presented in visually engaging and accessible formats for diverse stakeholders.
Job Purpose
This role supports UNEP India's communication efforts by transforming technical information into clear, visually appealing materials. The assignment focuses on graphic design and visual communication to enhance the presentation of brochures, pamphlets, flyers, presentations, and infographics. The volunteer will contribute to awareness generation and outreach activities by creating engaging content suitable for both digital and print dissemination. The primary goal is to make complex environmental information accessible and understandable to a wide range of stakeholders, supporting UNEP's mission to address environmental challenges.
Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Assistant Programme Officer, the volunteer will design various communication materials including brochures, pamphlets, flyers, posters, and information sheets using provided content. Responsibilities include converting written and technical information into simple, visually appealing formats, and designing professional presentation decks for workshops and outreach events. The role involves creating infographics, process diagrams, and other visual elements, as well as developing adaptable templates for frequently used products like presentation slides and social media cards. Additionally, the volunteer will assist in improving the layout and visual consistency of existing materials, adapting them for different audiences and channels, and preparing them for both digital and print use, incorporating feedback and ensuring a consistent visual approach.
Work Experience
Required experience includes strong graphic design and visual communication skills. Proficiency in Canva or similar design platforms is essential. Familiarity with professional design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign is also required. The ability to convert written information into clear, engaging visual products, and a good understanding of layout, typography, and visual hierarchy are necessary. Experience preparing materials for both digital and print use, attention to detail, and good communication and organizational skills are expected.
