ONU Mujeres (UN Women) is the UN entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. It leads and coordinates efforts within the UN system to ensure that gender equality commitments are translated into action worldwide. UN Women works to accelerate progress for women and girls through leadership, economic empowerment, ending violence, and promoting women's peace and security, ensuring their rights are central to global progress.
Job Purpose
This assignment aims to strengthen the communication efforts of UN Women Mexico by providing timely monitoring of the media agenda and compiling information for institutional content. The volunteers will support the continuous tracking of news and emerging issues related to gender equality and women's rights. Their contribution will facilitate informed content planning, decision-making, and the dissemination of accurate, rigorous information aligned with UN Women's mandate, ensuring effective communication strategies.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include monitoring media outlets and official sources to identify, collect, and classify relevant news for UN Women. Volunteers will collaborate on the preparation and updating of a daily information summary and support the creation and review of texts. They will also be responsible for gathering, organizing, and submitting inputs for communication content, as well as conducting information searches and basic verification of data and sources. Activities will be divided between morning and afternoon shifts, with close coordination between volunteers to ensure continuity and effective handover of tasks and pending items.
Work Experience
While no specific years of experience are mandated, candidates should possess excellent writing, spelling, and synthesis skills, with a capacity for analysis. Experience or interest in media monitoring and digital content creation is beneficial. The ability to identify relevant information, verify sources, and summarize content accurately is crucial. Familiarity with word processors, collaborative tools, and internet research is expected.
Skills
Essential skills include excellent written and oral communication in Spanish and English, strong analytical and synthesis abilities, and meticulous attention to detail. Candidates must be organized, able to meet deadlines, and proficient in media monitoring and content creation. Experience with digital tools and internet research is important. Desirable skills include knowledge of gender equality issues and the UN system.
