Job Purpose

This role supports UNICEF's Communications Unit in Honduras by managing administrative and procurement processes, contract oversight, and budget monitoring. The incumbent will contribute to visibility initiatives and the development of compelling communication content, including human interest stories and scripts. The primary goal is to ensure the timely and effective implementation of communication activities, enhance UNICEF's digital presence, and strengthen advocacy efforts for child rights and equity. By producing quality content and managing operational aspects, the role directly supports UNICEF's mission to reach vulnerable children and promote their well-being and development across various digital platforms.

Responsibilities

The Communications Operations Assistant will provide crucial support to UNICEF's Communications Unit. Key responsibilities include assisting in the preparation of procurement documentation for communication services and consultancies, and coordinating related administrative processes. This involves monitoring contracts, purchase orders, and deliverables to ensure compliance with deadlines and requirements, while maintaining accurate records. The role also supports the planning, procurement, production, and distribution of visibility materials, and assists in tracking communication-related expenditures and budget utilization. Furthermore, the assistant will monitor the dissemination of communication products, provide communication support for events and campaigns, and contribute to documenting program results and impact stories to bolster UNICEF's visibility and advocacy.

Work Experience

A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience is required. This includes experience in developing communication content for diverse platforms and audiences, supporting administrative and procurement processes, and drafting procurement-related documentation such as Terms of Reference. Experience in contract management and budget monitoring is also essential.

Skills

Essential skills include strong written and verbal communication in Spanish, with working knowledge of English. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is necessary, and familiarity with digital content management tools is desirable. The role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, and collaborative teamwork. Competencies such as building partnerships, driving results, innovation, managing complexity, and ethical awareness are also important.
