Organizational Context

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine focuses on strategic capacity development for inclusive growth and sustainable human development. Aligned with the 2030 Agenda and SDGs, UNDP supports Ukraine's efforts in poverty elimination, capacity building, equitable results, environmental sustainability, and democratic governance. The current project aims to accelerate recovery and strengthen resilience by addressing critical infrastructure, environmental, social, economic, governance, and justice needs, including support for vulnerable populations and MSMEs.

Job Purpose

The Finance Grants Associate will provide essential financial management support for low-value grants within the "Accelerating Recovery for Human Security in Ukraine" project. This role involves advising potential and current grantees on financial proposal finalization, reviewing financial reports, and ensuring adherence to UNDP procedures for payments and financial operations. The associate will collaborate with project and operations teams to resolve administrative issues and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, contributing to the project's outputs focused on recovery, social inclusion, economic empowerment, and transparent governance.

Responsibilities

Under the Project Coordinator's supervision, the Finance Grants Associate will support project staff and grantees in financial grant management. Key duties include advising on financial proposals, reviewing grant applications for compliance, guiding grantees on financial reporting tools and procedures, and monitoring their financial performance. The associate will prepare and process grantee payments, maintain supporting documentation for contracts, and contribute to budget preparation and revisions. Additionally, the role involves providing day-to-day financial operational support in line with UNDP rules and SOPs, and ensuring the mainstreaming of gender equality and women's empowerment principles in all activities.

Work Experience

A minimum of three years of relevant work experience in accounting and/or finance is required. This includes proficiency in budgeting and finance utilization monitoring. Experience in drafting reports, document production, and editing is also beneficial. Familiarity with database management and office technology is expected.

Skills

Key competencies include accountability, adaptability, flexibility, creativity, judgment, decision-making, planning, organizing, professionalism, and self-management. Technical skills encompass proficiency in budgeting, finance utilization monitoring, and MS Office applications. Expertise in administration, economics, poverty reduction, livelihoods, finance, and accounting is desirable.
