Job Purpose
This assignment seeks a skilled Online Volunteer to enhance Kar Geno-Center for Hope's website, improving its ability to communicate the organization's mission, programs, and impact. The current website needs updates in structure, design, and content to better reflect its evolution and the achievements of its community programs. An improved digital presence is crucial for connecting with potential volunteers, partners, and supporters, thereby increasing visibility and facilitating engagement with their work in Western Kenya.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will review the existing website and propose practical improvements to its structure, design, content presentation, navigation, and user experience. Key duties include editing and reorganizing content, enhancing the overall design and layout for better usability across devices, and improving the presentation of programs, impact stories, and volunteer opportunities. The volunteer will also create or enhance sections to facilitate understanding and involvement for potential partners and donors, correct basic website issues like broken links and outdated information, and provide recommendations on accessibility, SEO, and maintenance. Knowledge transfer to the local team for routine updates is also a goal.
Work Experience
Requires practical experience in website development, design, or management, including editing, updating, or developing websites using common platforms/CMS. A good understanding of web design principles, page layout, navigation, and user experience is essential. Experience with mobile/desktop responsiveness, basic SEO, and accessibility is also needed.
